Circuit Simulation Tools
Simulating circuit designs ahead of building them on the bench can be a great approach and allow you to modify and evaluate circuits quickly.
One of the most well-known free circuit simulation software packages is LTspice and if you’re just getting started have a look at the following tutorials:
- Sparkfun: Getting Started With LTspice
- Hackaday: Adding Spice To Your Workbench
- Hackaday: LTspice For Radio Amateurs And Others
LTspice is generally aimed at simulation of circuits operating at DC-100MHz… so what about if you’re working at higher frequencies? For these applications why not have a look at the well-recommended Qucs (Quite universal circuit simulator):
Another powerful option you may want to look at, recently noted on Hackaday as being released for free download, is Micro-Cap 12.
